Why Swimming
Since I was young swimming has always been important. My mum had a near drowning experience when she was young, so she instinctively wanted me to learn the fundamentals to ensure my risk was minimal. As I continued through the learning programme I found that I was quite good, so kept it going and going until competition took hold. As we competed, I enjoyed travelling both nationally and internationally with my team to race. All of the hard work in the training sessions was unleashed into those competitions. It was amazing to experience the challenges as well as the rewards when they came – without doubt, extremely valuable lessons in my life.
